Getting Started

Section Pro adds non-destructive section cuts, 2D technical drawings, and named view management to Blender. Once installed, everything is accessible from the Section Pro tab in the 3D Viewport sidebar (press N to open the sidebar).

Quick Overview

The typical workflow looks like this:

  1. Create a section – Press + in the Sections panel. Choose which objects the section should affect (its scope), set an alignment, and confirm. A flat plane object representing the cut appears in the scene.

  2. Enable the section – In the active view, toggle the section on. The cut is applied to the scoped objects.

  3. Create a drawing – Press + in the Drawings panel while a section is active. Configure projection and hidden edge options, then confirm. A mesh object containing the 2D line drawing is created.

  4. Export the drawing – From the drawing’s Export panel, save the drawing as DXF, SVG, or JSON.

  5. Use views – Create additional views to store different cut states, then switch between them.
